What is the difference between foam types?

  • Polyurethane is an open cell foam, which is typically soft and cushiony. It might be used for seat cushions.
  • Polyethylene is a firmer closed cell foam, such as the foam used in a life jacket.

What are the benefits of open celled foam?

It is mildew resistant and works great for any product that needs to be comfortable like furniture and medical positioning devices

What are the benefits of closed cell foam?

Closed cell foam is very durable and water resistant, which makes it great for packaging applications.

What density of foam do you offer?

We stock a wide range of densities for both open and close celled foam from 1lb up to 6lb. We can also work with our suppliers to make bring in other formulations, give us a call and we would be happy to help you determine the correct density for your specific need.

Why does foam density matter?

Density of foam mostly determines the longevity of the foam, many people confuse the density of the material with the firmness which is measured by the IFD or ILD

What does IFD or ILD stand for?

They stand for indentation force deflection or indentation load deflection. This is a process that helps determine the firmness of foam which is different from the density.

Do I need a blueprint or drawing of our product to get started?

Any information that can be provided will help but we do also help with product design and drawings.

What sizes of foam are available?

We stock various sizes of both open and closed cell foam, give us a call and we will be able to let you know the largest sheet size of that material that we can provide.

What is the standard lead time for projects?

Our standard lead time is typically 1-2 weeks.

Do you have a minimum order?

We do not have a minimum order quantity, but the higher the volume the better the price.

Where are your products made and where do your raw materials come from?

Acuity Foam purchase all of our products from companies here in the USA.

Can I get a foam sample?

Of course you can, just give us a call and we would be more than happy to get a sample in your hands.
